Working with Stevie must be close to godliness itself

When are you coming back to Atlanta?
Hopefully back in Atlanta in November – look out for dates on the website as soon as they’re confirmed.

Are you releasing the CD on a major label or independent?
The next release will probably be independent.

The magic question... Texas gig?
We are talking to promoters in Texas so look out!

Who would you like to work with that you haven’t yet?
I would love to work with Bill Withers – anyone know where Bill is?

What are your ten favourite CDs or songs?
There are too many to mention - Stevie Wonder: secret life of plants, catch a fire the wailer and trouble man, Marvin Gaye – just a selection.

Who are some of your influences?
My influences from the start have been Stevie Wonder, Level 42 and Jeff Lorber.

Did you appear on living up Level 42 track? I listened but couldn’t hear you!
I sang on a remix of Level 42s ‘living up’.

Where is your favourite place to perform?
I most love performing in a nice tight intimate situation.

So how about performing in Amsterdam some time? There's some intimate venues here.
I would love to perform in Amsterdam, could you give me some venue names?
There's the Paradiso which is where EVERYONE performs, or for really intimate, Bitterzoet or the Melkweg.

What about a CD of just you and Stevie doing y'alls thing?
Me and Stevie…I wish!

Omar, what do you think about the state of music today - do you think there has been progress or regress?
There is some very cool music out there now but I still prefer the classics.

What’s happened to Vanessa Simon – what’s she up to these days?
Vanessa's still making her music. I produced a couple of her tracks, watch out for one called 'music is life'

How do you rate what Nerd/Neptunes are doing, for example?
I rate the Neptunes for going back to basics.

Do you like Donnie - he's a new soul artist?
I haven’t had the chance to hear Donnie but I hear he’s good.
